This years Southern Region Acrobatics and Tumbling competition will be organised jointly by St Anne’s Catholic School, The Westgate School & Southampton Gymnastics Club.

It will be held at the Southampton Gymnastics Centre on Sunday 2nd April 2017. The gym has a sprung floor therefore all routines will be performed on this and the tumbling will take place on the sprung tumble track. There will also be a sprung floor available in the warm up gym.  (Please note the National Finals will not be on a sprung floor).

The doors will open at 8am and the competition will start at around 9am.  At this stage it is not possible to give a finish time.  All competitors must be accompanied by a qualified teacher or gymnastics coach.
We cannot give timings for each event until we have received all entries but we will endeavour to get the programme out as soon as possible after we have them in.

Just a reminder that all schools need to be affiliated to British Schools Gymnastics Association, this can be completed online at http://www.bsga.org/affiliations/  or alternatively by contacting Janet Payne on: hockeytramp@btinternet.com.

We will be following all of the rules set out in the BSGA handbook which you should receive once affiliated or have access to online.

National Finals vs Regional Competition

The National Finals will be on Saturday 6th May and Sunday 7th May at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent.  If you are aware of any other schools or individuals who would like to take part in the competition, please pass on our contact details.

Following the success of the regional category last year for the Over 14s we would like to include this alongside every age group and category this year.

Schools this year will be allowed to enter a maximum of 6 pairs in total and you can choose how you split them – e.g. 3 in the regional and 3 in the national – but you can only enter a maximum of 5 in one category.

Sixes will remain the same- 3 sixes in total but again you can decide how to split them.

Please use your professional judgement when deciding which category is most appropriate for your gymnasts. The whole aim of the regional category is to give those gymnasts who struggle to meet the current competition requirements a chance at winning a medal and to hopefully encourage them to continue to participate, whereas they might have really struggled being in the national category.

Regional Rules and Entries

If you are entering gymnasts in the regional category then they are allowed to use any of the balances and agilities from any of the age groups.  All of the other rules in this category are the same i.e. 4 balances and 3 agilities, 2 minute routine, at least one gymnast must be from that age group i.e. you could have an under 14 partner with an over 14 partner and this would make them an over 14 pair.

The entry fee will be the same as last year, £3.50 per individual per event. The format will be the same as last year (with the addition of the regional categories for floor) with a maximum of 3 groups per category, 5 pairs per category (you may enter an additional 6th but not have 6 in the same category) and 2 tumblers per category.

The deadline for the competition entries and payment is Monday 6th February; no late entries will be accepted as we have to pay for the venue hire in advance. All gymnasts’ names must be on the entry form and cheques should be made payable to St Anne’s Catholic School.

If you are not currently on our mailing list and have not received an entry form via email then please email us at the email address below.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we look forward to seeing everybody at the competition.
